VIDEO: Campaign against fistula should be taken to schools, says singer Halima Namakula

Most at risk group of getting Fistula is between the ages of 11-19 with the bigger number lacking knowledge on its cause and prevention.

‘’To the schools we have visited, students don’t know anything about fistula’’ Says Singer Halima Namakula.

Under her organization WAWI (Women at Work International), the veteran artist is soldiering to strengthen fistula prevention by spreading awareness in schools.

In the struggle, she started with Busoga region which comes second after western region with towering rates of fistula.

‘’The population of Busoga has suffered high rates of fistula which is perpetrated from early child marriages and teenage pregnancies which are not taken care of,’’ revealed Stella Birungi,state minister of Busoga kingdom.
