The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and police have deployed massively in Kabarole district following clashes between UPDF and suspected militia which left eight dead.
Yesterday, UPDF disbanded camps that were established by local militia known as Kirumiramutima who were reportedly planning to attack military bases in their campaign to create Yira Republic.
UPDF second division spokesperson, Capt Arthur King Timbaganya has said they have further beefed up security to secure the area that is now under threat.
“We are beefing up security in areas we got intelligence that Kirumiramutima would likely attack, those are some parts of Kabarole like Nyamuswa and Karangura sub counties but also some elements within Kirumiramutima are threatening the civilians and local leaders who are supporting the security forces or the government,” said Timbaganya.
