Uganda National Examination Board(UNEB) has devised means to help school administrators claim fees from defaulting schools.

UNEB has gone ahead to ask the police to hold on the arrest of school head teachers who deny students chance to sit for examinations for failure to meet their financial obligations.

This follows the recent arrests of several teachers who were refusing students to sit for their national exams without clearing their dues.

According to the Board spokesperson, Hamis Kaheru, parents with school fees problems must discuss with the school management before seeking police intervention.

The fact that the candidate registered is not enough, they should go ahead and meet their financial obligations towards the schools, as UNEB we are ready, we shall help the schools if a parent reaches an understanding with the school, there’s a way we can suppress their results even after they have done the papers and then we should only release them after when the schools inform us that they paid,” said Kaheru.
