The government through the ministry of energy and mineral development is set to distribute about two million energy saving bulbs to Ugandans in rural areas.
Speaking during the renewable energy and sustainable development media dialogue at Innovation village offices in Ntinda yesterday an official from the energy ministry, Makilian Ssenyonga saud the bulbs shall be distributed at no cost. He says this will save the beneficiaries from the burden of paying high power costs.
Meanwhile,a similar program held in 2015 failed due to bureaucracy with only 30 percent of the targeted beneficiaries actually receiving the bulbs.
