Chief justice Bart Katurebe says Uganda needs to operationalize the local council courts to empower tribal systems.
While closing the East African magistrates and judges conference, Katurebe said this will help to handle local disputes ordinarily no need to come to the formal courts.
In a conference, magistrates and judges discussed that the executive should work hand in hand with the judiciary to address the challenges encountered in the enforcement of judicial decisions.

The chief justice also reminded president Yoweri Museveni of his promises to fully support the judiciary’s five year ICT strategy estimated to cost shs 42 billion adding that the judiciary is still counting on the president’s support to have this process fulfilled.
