In a bid to promote tourism, Uganda has reduced visa fees from US$100 to US$50 with effect from 22nd July 2016.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has gone ahead and issued statutory instrument No.13 of 2016 to effect the change,” says Uganda Tourism Board chief executive Stephen Asiimwe.

This comes at the time Uganda has initiated e-visa which is applied for online.

Mr Asiimwe says, “the move is aimed at promoting #UgandasTourism sector as we implement the newly introduced e-visa where we require applicants to apply, have their visas approved with notifications sent to them and visas issued at the respective borders and embassies.”

However, visa reduction applys for single entry (tourist) visa. The other visa categories fees remain unchanged, clarified the UTB boss.
