Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) has declined claims that the public broadcaster, Uganda Broadcasting Cooperation (UBC) was sold to Chinese.
There have been rumours that UBC was sold to Star Times at $ 19 million and that all agreements and documents have been finalized just waiting to handover UBC and its entire TV networks, Radio networks and communication infrastructure to the buyer.
According to UCC spokesperson, Isaac Kalembe, the allegations are unfounded and peddling and it should be treated with the contempt they deserve.
He says UBC remains a public broadcaster and Government is committed to boosting its operation.
“ UBC remains a public broadcaster and Government is committed to boosting its operations. The recent Dr Peter Mwesige-led Commission of Inquiry into UBC is testimony to how serious the Government is to turn UBC around,” Kalembe asserted.
