On a one week visit to China, a Ugandan delegation led by the minister of information, Frank Tumwebazze managed to attend the world internet conference in Wuhzen province where discussions on ensuring safety and sustainablity of the cyberspace were held.
According to Tumwebaze, after the conference the Ugandan delegation visited the CCTV headquarters in Beijing and it discussed with the management of CCTV( China’s national broadcaster) about possible areas of mutual cooperation and partnership with Uganda Broadcasting Cooperation (UBC).
The two parties reached an agreement which shall see UBC staff members will be taught new modern skills in broadcasting, content production, management and use of new modern digital equipments like state of the art cameras.
“We agreed in principle that our two state national broadcasters should corporate and learn from each other. For UBC, this is a major step in our efforts to rebuild and revamp it. CCTV will accord UBC staff an opportunity to learn new modern skills in broadcasting, content production and management and use of new modern digital equipment,” said Tumwebaze.
