The minister for tourism, wildlife and antiquities, Ephraim Kamuntu has underscored the need for Uganda to join the regional destination marketing.
Kamuntu led the Uganda delegation to the magical Kenya tourism expo 2016 in Nairobi. He said joint marketing has caused rethinking of tourism business in the region and Ugandan businesses in public organizations must work to promote Uganda and complement each other’s effort in the destination market.
Speaking at the expo, the Uganda Tourism Board chief executive officer, Steven Asiimwe re-echoed the minister’s call to the tourism sector adding that the board has gone beyond the Ugandan borders to promote and facilitate the regional travel unlike in the previous expos, this year’s expo started with high level talks between the northern corridor partner countries of Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda which since 2014 have been jointly marketing themselves.
Last year Uganda won the best exhibitor award at the expo.
