Residents of Teso sub region have called for government intervention following food shortage that has hit the area.
The residents made an appeal during the visit by the minister of agriculture, Vincent Sempijja to the region.
The minister had rushed to the area to assess the situation of femine. He also visited Omarai village in Soroti district, one of the areas hit by drought.
Jacinta Ochen, one of the residents told the minister that the starvation has affected people living with HIV/AIDS a lot.
“A lot of sunshine, no food for consumption, no water. For example, we are people living with HIV, have no supper, we do not eat properly, we eat only once a day but there’s no one who can come to our rescue,” said Ochen.
