A section of taxi operators have called off the strike which was meant to kick start today after a meeting with Minister for Kampala, Betty Kamya.

Yesterday the drivers under their umbrella body,Uganda Transport Development Agency (UTODA) threatened to go on strike today citing police brutality and ill treatment by Kampala Capital City Authority( KCCA) law enforcement officers.

According to UTODA chairperson, Mustafa Mayambala, they have decided to call off the strike after meeting with the minister for Kampala who asked traffic police to put hold to their operations within Kampala city.

Mayambala says they are now waiting for what will transpire in today’s meeting between Kamya and her counterpart from the ministry of works and transport.
