Last month, Rajiv Ruparelia, son to property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia joined Rallystar Academy in South Africa for a specialised rally training. He was trained by Africa’s number one trainer Leone Botha.
“I decided to join rallying just to feed my strong passion for Motorsport. But also I want to have fun. And rallying is not something you just wake up and take on. I decided to join a rally school to get myself equipped with some experience,” Rajiv revealed recently.
On Saturday, the 29 year old officially unveiled his monster rally car as part of his final preps for his much-expected debut.
Built in Poland, the volkswagen Polo Proto is a hybrid type car and it has a 2.0 litre engine with a turbo charger and has four wheel drive.
During a colourful event at Speke Hotel’s Rock Bar and Lounge, Rajiv promised to give his best explaining that Rajiv Ruparelia Rally Team is a brand that is not just about rallying but also supporting the community. The team will levereage on their connection with Ruparelia Foundation and Rajiv Ruparelia Scholarship at Victoria University to give back to community.
“My trainer Leone Botha will be coming down as soon the cars are ready and we will be debuting from home with the Pearl of Africa,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by the most influential people in the motorsport world including officials from various motorsport clubs.
