Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City FC have confirmed the signing of Gaddafi Gardinho on a two year deal, barely a few days since the local transfer window was announced open.
The pint sized left footed midfielder has been one of the most exciting players at the Arua-based side, Onduparaka and was part of the 2014/2015 team that guided Onduparaka to top flight promotion as well as the fairy tale run to the Uganda Cup finals.
“Mbarara City Football Club have signed Gaddafi Gadihno for two years,” the Chief Executive Officer Sadam Mugarura confirmed the news to the media.
Former Ondu teammate, defender Rashid Muhammad who made the switch last year, has already set himself up as a mainstay in the Mbarara team and has won over quite a following from the Mbarara fans.
Gardinho’s acquisition will also be a renewal of acquaintances as former Ondu coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi who despite claims that he is set on leaving the club is at the helm of the coaching staff.
The Ankole Lions also confirmed the signing of exciting midfielder Bashir Muweesi from Katwe United on a three-year deal.
Mbarara City finished fifth on the 16-team StarTimes Uganda Premier League log with 46 points last season, their best finish in the top flight since their promotion two seasons ago.
