Six-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC play host to bottom placed side Paidha Black Angels at the Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku in what has been described as a crucial game for the hosts.
Both sides will be under new faces in the respective dugouts from the ones who managed them their last meeting. Paidha will be managed by a third different coach this season as Anthony Ssekitto takes charge in his first game for the club.
In the opposite dug out, George Ssemwogerere, who replaced Kefa Kisala seems to have time running out on him as he still searches for his first home win since his appointment.
The Red Eagles have not won at home since December last year and despite not winning in their last five games, they have a good record over the newly promoted sides as they have won four out of five games played against them this season.
And defender Charles Musoke declared the game is very crucial for their season.
“It is a very crucial game because we need at least three points to put pressure on those ahead of us, the gap in front there isn’t too big but all this week we have been working on our finishing because we got very many opportunities against URA and didn’t convert them so we had to concentrate on scoring and I know we shall score,” said Musoke.
The blacks of Zombo are having a season to forget. They have collected just 12 points. They have won two (the lowest in the league), drawn six and lost 16 and their relegation could be confirmed if they lose today.
Express were 3-1 victors in the first leg encounter at Green light stadium in Arua. Tony Odur opened the scoring before Paidha equalised at the stroke of half time. But second half goals from Ibrahim Kayiwa and Mubarak Nsubuga sealed the win for Kisaala’s men by then.
The Red Eagles will be without goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga whose out with a dislocated shoulder, Badru Nsubuga and Mubarak Nsubuga are also out with injury while Eric Kambale may be available again after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The Black Angels may still be without left back Sula Ssekamwa but defender Shabban Wasswa’s form could be important for Paidha. Dickens Okwir who is on loan from Vipers will be available.
Elsewhere, Bright Stars will make the trip to Jinja to face Kirinya Jinja SS at the Mighty Arena. Bright Stars made short work of Kirinya in the first leg thumping them 4-1 and extending their dominance over this fixture as they are yet to lose to their hosts.
