Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club have won two games in a row for the first time this season and since Sam Ssimbwa took over at the club last season.
The tax collectors eased to a 3-1 win over a hugely disappointing Onduparaka side who were reduced to 10 men with the game about to end at the Mandela National stadium in Namboole on Friday.
Captain Shafik Kagimu set the ball rolling from the spot in the 23rd minute which was also the first time the side scored a penalty this season missing all their previous three.
Onduparaka midfielder Abel Eturude was unlucky to put the ball into his own net in the 43rd minute before talisman Vianne Ssekajjugo pulled a goal back just before the break.
But with just minutes into the second half, Odong Mathew put the game beyond the reach of the visitors as Sam Ssimbwa’s side maintained their unbeaten run this season. Onduparaka defender Okot Dennis saw red in added time.
The win pushes the tax collectors into fourth on the log with 20 points from 13 games while Onduparaka remain third on the table with 23 points from 13 games this season.
At Wankulukuku, home side Express FC managed to get over a resilient Nyamityobora side 2-1 in the other game of the day.
Young midfielder Badru Nsubuga put the Red Eagles infront in the first half through a low shot in the penalty area with 26 minutes on the clock.
There was little action attacking wise for the remainder of the first half as both sides managed to nullify each other going forward. But the Nyakare captain, left back Alex Komaketch seemed to have earned a point for his side with a 70th minute penalty.
But the hosts managed to dig deeper and found what turned out to be the match winner through forward Micheal Birungi after just four minutes of Nyamityobora’s equaliser.
This was Express’ fifth win of the season in 13 games and takes them to 17 points while Nyamityobora suffered a milestone 10th loss in the top flight division since they earned promotion and remain second from bottom with just 7 points.
