Asaph Mwebaze is set to replace Moses Basena as SC Villa head coach.
Basena resigned on Wednesday following a 2-2 draw away to Tooro United in Buhinga Fort Portal. The point moved Villa from bottom of the 16-team log to 14th, level on four points with Nyamityobora and Paidah Black Angels.
Sources close to Watchdog Uganda have indicated that Mwebaze, formerly at Onduparaka and Maroons will be named the new head coach before Villa’s next encounter against
Basena was appointed by the Villa interim committee in August after former president Ben Misagga stepped down unceremoniously.
He has however, endured a tumultuous period, managing just one win which came in the ‘Pilsner Super 8’ before the current Uganda Premier League season opened.
Since then, the record champions have managed four draws and four losses in eight league matches.
Mwebaze who cited intrigue and poor administration for leaving the Arua based Onduparaka will hope to put a smile back on the face of Villa fans when eventually unveiled.
