World Boxing Federation (WBF) president Howard Goldberg will be in the country to supervise a WBF Africa heavyweight title bout between Ugandan boxer Shafik Kiwanuka and Zimbabwean challenger Thamsanqua Dube.
The fight, organized by Great Strikers International is due November 29 at IUEA-Kansanga.
In a letter dated October 30, 2019, Howard said he shall personally be part of event to ensure that he forges ways of supporting boxing development in Uganda.
Speaking to Watchdog Uganda Uhuru Salim, the president of Uganda Professional Boxing Commission said the visitor shall conduct a seminar with UPBC officials a day before the fight and on November 30, he shall proceed to the source of the Nile in Jinja to appreciate the Pearl of Africa before he boards back.
Kiwanuka, a language student at International University of East Africa is an old boy of Kampala Boxing Club with two professional fights under his belt. These he successfully won with a knockout in not more than two minutes.
His opponent is more experienced with 15 internationally recognized bouts, wining 12 and losing three with seven of them being won by knockout.
Dube’s had a spell of time without being involved in recognized fights since his loss to Flo Simba, a DR Congo international in 2011 where he was knocked out.
