Rebranding is the process of changing the corporate image of an organisation. It is a market strategy of giving a new name, symbol, or change in design for an already established brand. The idea behind rebranding is to create a different identity for a brand.
And at their quarterly dinner in Kampala, Uganda Sports Press Association committee headed by President Patrick Kanyomozi, unveiled a new logo as one of the many changes the association is set to undertake to enhance its corporate image.
“Companies, institutions and associations undergo rebranding process in order to get a fresh look. As USPA Executive, we thought it was important to do some of these changes. This is the beginning of the many changes that we believe the association will undergo,” he said.
The new logo features a pen, microphone and a blue colour in a unique way which potray the main tools used by journalists and what the association at large stands for.
“The idea behind the new logo was to create something that is unique and portrays what the association is about. The microphone and the pen stand for tools that sports journalists use when reporting while the blue color symbolises trust, unity and brotherhood as the association motto suggests,” said Okirior who headed the logo design team.
The move to rebrand USPA was also aplauded by the guest of honour, Zubair Galiwango the head of technical at National Council of Sports saying that this will help move the association in the right direction.
”I commend USPA for the taking this direction. It is timely and important for the association to rebrand. With these changes, I believe the association will get a more appealing image towards government through National Council of Sports,” said Galiwango.
