As the whole nation is excited about today’s parliamentary discussion on the now famous and scandalous Presidential handshake, the issue is likely to turn astray.

Following the Monday 9 January’s constitutional Court interim order prohibiting parliament, media or any individual from probing the oil cash bonanza, parliament may have decided to pull out of the debate.

Yesterday, minutes after the interim order, Chris Obore, the parliament Public Relations Officer, asserted that the National Assembly will not be threatened adding that it had to look into the matter today but on a sad note, basing on yesterday evening’s parliamentary order paper, it never indicated the presidential handshake topic anywhere.

This probably means that Parliament is likely not to tamper with the oil cash bonanza.

Last year in December, 42 senior government officials rewarded themselves with shs 6 billion following Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)’s court settlement win against a British oil firm, Tullow oil. The incident sparked outrage among Ugandans and many demanded the officials to return the tax payers money.

Here is the Parliamentary Order paper;
