The government of Rwanda has issued a statement on the death of King Kigeli V.

In the statement, the government explains how the late king ended up abroad, from where he died from.

However, the statement wrote on Tuesday 18.10.2016 two days after Kigeli’s death, says the government has not been officially informed of the late king’s passing, and were waiting for the family to express their preferences on where to bury the king who spent half a century in exile.

However the statement says it was saddened on learning of Kigeli’s death although observers say the government was bowing to pressure from its people.

In the statement, Kigeli is addressed as Kigeli, the former king.

However the government commits itself to make necessary burial arrangements as soon as the family communicates to the government.
