For anyone into weddings, there is a wedding of year you cannot ignore.
In October, just last month, a wedding that brought the city to a standstill took place. It is one those who love to spend can borrow a leaf if they can afford.
The wedding which had money written on its every detail was financed by Pastor Samuel Kakande of the Synagogue Church for one of his most loyal pastor. The chief organiser was Ntambi Remmy Townsent Kent and Pastor Luka himself.
Pastor Jimmy Luka walked down-the-aisle his beautiful wife Blessings Elizabeth Murungi, daughter of Mrs Prossy Kusiima and Mr Pierre Nkurunziza. Graceful parents of Pastor Luka, Mrs May Wanyana and Mr Mugula Christopher graced the occassion. It was a show of support for a pastor who has loyally served the church.
Over 1,500 guests were treated to a five star reception at Hotel Africana’s Nile Hall, where all tribes of wine were served at a sumptuous reception. And the wedding attracted several Kampala A-listers including Middle East Consultants‘ Managing Director Mr Gordon Mugyenyi, Ssalongo Michael Kasawuli aka Samona, Mrs Gertrude Njuba, US billionaire Whitaker, GR44, Ssessanga Edward, Jemba aka JJ1, Uncle Peter Ngategize, Mrs Sarah Nkonge, among others.
Mr Gordon donated two Frisian cows for the new couple. Also Brother Ronnie gave similar number of cows as gifts.
The reception took place after the newlyweds have put Kampala City on tenterhooks, driving through monster vehicles shipped in from the USA. Five Hummers, two Tundras and three Ford Explorers were in the company of the lovebirds who showed money was indeed not their problem. There were bikers to make the show of wedding look pimped.
Pastor Luka who goes by the alias Seven-Stars thanked Pastor Kakande for being there for him in thick and thin, and for showering him with a “seven-star” wedding.
“For 22 years of my life, Prophet Kakande has made me who I am,” said Pastor Luka in his speech given with gratitude and humility.
Brother Ronnie Makabai of ETM International Church blessed the wedding. The other men of God present to bless the marriage were pastors Reagan, Mugisha and Woyera.
Whereas this was a Christian wedding, the couple’s reception was entertained by the big stars in the country including Irene Ntale, King Saha, Dr Hilderman, Chris Evans among others. The MC was Patriko Mujuuka of CBS FM.
The people who attended the wedding left saying such was the real meaning of a wedding, and a befitting testimony to what a man of God can do to prove that church weddings really matter.
Otherwise, what explains the extravagant expenses on the mother of cakes by Sheraton Hotel’s Temptations, salon work by 4Headlines based at Serena Hotel and Brave Salon on Kampala Casino, decorations by Flex Impressions, music by Magic Horns band, and sound by JK Sounds, Cotton Studio and FRENCH single Sign dressed up the entourage, among other service providers.
The photography was captured by some of the best in the industry including former Big Brother Africa’s contestant turned celebrity photographer Morris Mugisha.
In short, the Sh750 million wedding is unmatched this year. We can comfortably call it the wedding of the year 2016. And like the pastor would say, “To God be the Glory”.
At Watchdog we wish Pastor Jimmy Luka and his beautiful wife Blessings Elizabeth Mutungi a happy and blessed marriage.
