President Yoweri Museveni emphasized the need for Ugandan youth to be equipped with ideological knowledge about Uganda’s history in order to best tell their story.

The President was responding to Prof. Yash Tandon’s presentation yesterday at the just concluded retreat for Cabinet Ministers, NRM Central Executive Committee members and Permanent Secretaries held at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi. Professor Tandon’s topic was on “International Diplomacy: Analysis of the Current Global Conflict Trends and Dynamics.”
“There is need for academicians to fight imperialism. If we don’t write our history ourselves, somebody else will write it for you,” the President said.  He asked Professor Tandon to lecture in Makerere University under the module ideology.

“I would like to request Prof. Tandon to spend some time at Makerere University. People at the University need reinforcement. I want people like Dr. Tandon to help us with that,” he said.

Dr. Yash Tandon is a lecturer at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. He is the founder Chairman of the Southern and Eastern African Trade, Information and Negotiations Institute.
