Barcelona defender Gerard Pique wants to become the club’s president once he retires. The Spaniard recently revealed that unlike many footballers who choose a coaching career after retirement, he was interested in becoming the president of the La Liga giants because he was so ‘passionate’ about the club.

Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Palace when Yaya Toure scored a brace after a surprise recall, City boss Pep Guardiola revealed his support for the 29-year-old defender. This was his response when he was asked reporters about his thoughts on Pique’s aspirations:
“I’d vote for him.’’

The former Manchester United player has made 228 appearances for Los Blaugrana, won six league titles, four Copas del Rey, and a hattrick of Champions League titles.
He was part of the squad that drew against Malaga earlier today.
