Three jailed former public service officials have appealed against the entire judgement and the orders of the anti corruption court Lawrence Gidudu.

The officials including the former permanent secretary Jimmy Lwamafa, former principal accountant Christopher Obey and former commissioner compensation department, Steven Kiwanuka Kunsa, challenge their conviction.

On 11 November, 2016 Justice Gidudu sent the trio to seven,10 and 5 years to jail respectively after convicting them on charges of causing financial loss to government, abuse of office, false accounting, conspiracy to defraud and diversion of public funds amounting to over shs88 billion.

Justice Gidudu also ordered the convicts to jointly refund shs50 billion to the government.

In the note filed in the court of appeal, Lwamafa, Obey and Kunsa through their respective lawyers say they were dissatisfied with the decision of the court so they are challenging it. The convicts are currently serving their sentences at Luzira prison.
