The clerk of Parliament, Jane L Kibirige has issued a notice to Members of Parliament informing them that the parliamentary sittings are going to resume on Wednesday 18 January, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
According to the notice, all committee activities will resume on Tuesday, 17 January, 2017.
Last week on Tuesday, the speaker of parliament adjourned all parliamentary activities until the Deputy Chief Justice, Steven Kavuma vacates what she called a ‘stupid order’ which was meant to prohibit parliament, any person from making an inquiry into the shs 6 billion presidential handshake.
The oil cash bonanza where 42 senior government officials rewarded themselves with shs 6 billion after Uganda Revenue Authority’s court settlement win against Tullow Oil sparked public outrage and the negative reaction prompted several politicians including MPs to criticize the action.
The parliament is going to resume work without the interim order being lifted.
