Last week while at Dr. Kizza Besigye’s home, opposition members of parliament resolved to start collecting signatures of mps so that the parliament can be recalled with the aim of fighting for Besigye’s rights.

Today a section of opposition members of Parliament led by Mukono municipality MP, Betty Nambooze are expected to start collecting signatures from fellow legislatures to recall the parliament over alleged abuse of Besigye’s rights who is currently out of the country.

Th law makers contend that the police’s actions are illegal and want the Parliament which is currently in recess to be recalled under section 20 of the rules of procedure to handle this matter which they say us against the constitution of Uganda.

Rukungiri municipality mp, Roland Mugume Kaginda, says so far they have received a number of promising legislators asking for the forms to append their signatures.

The rule requires only one third of the house to have members recalled from recess.

This means they need about 170 signatures out of the 432 mps.
