The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (D/RDC) for Kisoro District, Mr. Robert Tukamuhebwa has dismissed claims of vote rigging in the Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament by-election.
The voting is currently taking place.
According to Mr. Tukamuhebwa, there is a video which has been circulating on all social media platforms from as early as 6:00 am, this morning purported to be vote rigging in Kisoro district.
However, the Deputy RDC says the person who sent the video is an enemy of peace and democracy in Kisoro and Uganda as a whole.
“Elections in Kisoro district are going on peacefully in all the 322 polling stations and all of them are secured by police constables. We have no military police presence in the district as seen in that video and our Intelligence sources have verified and clarified that no such incident as alleged has happened anywhere in Kisoro,” he said in a statement issued today.
Mr. Tukamuhebwa therefore advised Ugandans to disregard the video and treat it with all the contempt it deserves.
