The Special Assistant to H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda – Press and Mobilization, Haji. Faruk Kirunda has dismissed claims by the Member of Parliament for Budyebo County-Nakasongola, Hon. Kirya Bernard Sekyanzi that he lost his phone while attending a meeting at State House.
In information making rounds on social media, Hon. Kirya informed his constituents that his phone has some critical information regarding land issues but it was stolen during the recent NRM caucus meeting at State House, Entebbe. The MP made the revelation this Thursday during a land baraza meeting held in Nakayoza Village, Lwabiyata Sub County, Nakasongola District, where he, alongside State Minister for Lands, Hon. Sam Mayanja, addressed land disputes in the area.
However, according to Haji Kirunda, the legislator’s allegation cannot not be true and it should be treated with all the contempt it deserves.
“All phones and other metal objects are surrendered at the security gate and an identification pass is issued prior to entry into State House premises. Since 1986 when H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni occupied State House no such incident has happened despite the daily big numbers of guests,” he explained via his official X account yesterday.
Haji Kirunda added that if a guest parks their car outside the gate, the management of State House cannot be responsible for any thefts thereof.
“Nonetheless the MP is advised to report the matter to the Police so that his phone can be tracked and promptly recovered,”he urged.
