As the 2026 general elections draw near, the people of Kagoma North constituency in Jinja district are witnessing a fresh wave of leadership aspirations.
Bishop Paul Wandera, a renowned Pentecostal church leader and founder of Rivers of Life Outreach Ministries Uganda, has announced his candidacy for the constituency currently represented by NRM’s Hon Alex Brandon Kintu.
His dynamic campaign is built on a foundation of compassion and empowerment. “…my primary focus is on improving the welfare and education of vulnerable children, including those with disabilities so that they too can earn a living decently…” a local politician who asked for anonymity revealed.
Once elected to the 12th parliament, Bishop Wandera aims to provide them with vocational skills, enabling them to become self-sufficient and break the cycle of poverty, which resonates deeply with the constituency’s needs, where many young people face unemployment and limited opportunities.
In addition to education, Bishop Wandera is committed to healthcare support and plans to procure an ambulance to facilitate emergency transportation for expectant mothers and those in urgent need of medical attention.
The 46-year-old philanthropist is making waves in Kagoma North constituency with his innovative plans to boost education and economic development.
“…I plan to establish the Kagoma Examination Board, which will complement the government’s efforts to improve education standards in the area which in turn will provide more opportunities for students and enhance the overall quality of education…”,the soft speaking cleric-cum politician remarked.
In addition to education, Bishop Wandera plans to facilitate the opening of Kagoma North Constituency SAACO, a savings and credit cooperative organization.
This initiative, he explains will encourage a culture of saving among community members and provide access to affordable loans, freeing them from the clutches of exploitative money lenders and cumbersome banking processes.
What sets Bishop Wandera apart from other politicians is his commitment to family values.
He is happily married to Christine, and they are blessed with four beautiful children. His down-to-earth personality and relatable interests, such as being an avid fan of Arsenal Football Club, have earned him the nickname “A Man of the Common Person.”
Many Ugandan youth including those in Kagoma share his passion for the team, with Bukayo Ayoyinka Temidayo Saka, popularly known as Bukayo Saka being a role model for many.
Unlike others who join politics to become dealers, Bishop Wandera says his is a calling from God so as to stimulate economic growth and development so that residents are self sustenance.
“…politicians come and tell open lies; promising what they cannot implement and they give people, especially the youth alcohol instead of empowering them with skills…”,he pointed out.
Many residents including local politicians have welcomed Bishop Wandera’s unique and transparent approach to issues and are ready to give him their mandate come 2026.
Bishop Wandera’s dedication to community development, education, and family values makes him a strong contender in the upcoming elections. His vision for Kagoma North constituency is built on empowerment, self-sustainability, and progress, inspiring hope for a brighter future.
This move is expected to alleviate the constituency’s healthcare challenges and demonstrate his dedication to the well-being of his community.
His tireless efforts to address the pressing concerns of Kagoma North have sent a strong message to his competitors, who are reportedly losing hope. As the election season unfolds, Bishop Wandera’s campaign will undoubtedly be one to watch.
