The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced that he is working on a second book, nearly 14 years after the release of his first publication, ‘Battles of the Ugandan Resistance’.
In a tweet on sunday, the general shared that his new book will cover his life story up to the present and indicated his plans to personally oversee its publication and marketing after encountering issues with the publishers of his previous work.
“I last wrote a book 14 years ago. I’m writing a second book about my entire life up to this point. First of all, I shall publish and market it myself. I was cheated the last time,” Muhoozi tweeted, sparking widespread engagement on social media.
Muhoozi’s tweet quickly caught the attention of his supporters on Twitter, with many offering suggestions for the book’s title. Some proposed titles like :The Journey of a Ugandan Patriot’ and ‘A Soldier’s Legacy’, reflecting their admiration for the general’s military career and leadership. Meanwhile, detractors were quick to suggest negative and satirical titles, aiming to highlight their criticism of the general.
Despite the mixed reactions, Muhoozi appears to be taking the responses in stride, calling on all sides to contribute ideas. “I want proposals for a good name from all of you,” he added in the tweet, further fueling the discussion.
The general’s decision to publish and market the book independently is seen as a response to the frustrations he faced with his previous publishers, a point he made clear in his statement. His supporters have since expressed excitement, eagerly awaiting the book’s release, while speculation about its content continues to grow.
This second book comes at a time when Muhoozi has been increasingly vocal on social media, using the platform to share his thoughts on political and military issues, as well as personal experiences. Whether this new publication will focus on his military career, his life , or offer insight into Uganda’s political landscape remains to be seen.
