The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have been praised for being a pro-people army.
While giving his remarks during the UPDF’s annual CDF tournament finals hosted by the Mountain Division at buhinga stadium ,the Fort Portal Deputy Resident City Commissioner Businge Emmanuel commended the UPDF for being a pro people army that has improved the people -army relationship.
Mr Businge specifically singled out the efforts by the UPDF in saving lives of victims of an accident that involved Link Bus from Fort portal to Kampala that happened earlier on Wednesday. It should be noted that over 28 people lost their lives in an accident that saw scores injured and admitted at buhinga regional hospital.
The deputy RCC commended the efforts of the Commander In Chief of the armed forces and the head of state, President Yoweri Museveni in nurturing the UPDF to a professional army that has managed to ensure peace and security for Uganda, East Africa and Africa at large.
“Involving and participation in sports instills discipline, unity and cooperation and this us critical in having a professional army,” Mr Businge said.
The event was graced by the CDF Gen Wilson Mbadi Mbasu ,the mountain division commander major Gen Kayanja Muhanga among other officers of the UPDF.
