District leaders from Ankole, Bunyoro, Rwenzori and Kigezi sub-regions including RDCs/RCCs are currently meeting at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi for a four days induction retreat organised by the Manifesto Implementation Unit under the Office of the President.
The retreat has attracted Resident District Commissioners(RDCs), Chief Administrative Officers(CAOs), LCV Chairpersons, and NRM District Chairpersons.
The Director Manifesto Implementation Unit Mr Willis Bashasha , NRM National Chair, Richard Todwong, Chairperson Manifesto Committee, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, Secretary to the Presidency, Hajji Yunusu Kakande Ms Ritah Namwenge, are among the facilitators of the retreat.
While opening the event, Todwong emphasised the relevancy of the NRM party manifesto for the government in power, challenging the leaders to do all they can for its successful implementation in their districts of jurisdiction.
He further challenged them to preach mindset change among the people they lead as a way of translating the commendable infrastructural development in their areas into improved household incomes.
The delegates are expected to share the ideology of leadership, the role of parliament in the implementation of the process of the manifesto, and highlights of the 2021-2026 manifesto plus the role of the local government leaders in the implementation of the manifesto.
At the end of the four days, on Wednesday, 4th, the Honourable Minister for the Presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda is expected to close the retreat.
