Nakaseke South Member of Parliament Hon Luttamaguzi Ssemakula says he will seek re-election in 2026 on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket.
Luttamaguzi who is serving his second term in Parliament on the Democaratic Party (DP) ticket disclosed this on Thursday evening, while appearing on BBS Terefayina’s popular political show “Amaaso ku Ggwanga” moderated by Steven Dunstan Busuulwa.
The show was majorly intended to deliberate the recently struck coffee exporting deal between the government of Uganda and an Italian company Vinci, which many Ugandans allege is illegal and unconstitutional.
However, Luttamaguzi used it as a chance to clarify that he nolonger serves the interest of DP and that come 2026 general elections, he will stand as Nakaseke South legislator on NUP ticket.
A comic Luttamaguzi revealed he was secretly approached by the NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine), who earnestly implored him to defect and join his side.
This, he claimed was sparked off by his peculiar mobilisation skills, which made the NUP principal believe with no single grain of doubt, that such skills would make the NRM government, a once upon a time story to narrate.
Hon. Luttamaguzi did not hide his extreme happiness as he made such a shocking revelation, reiterating he nolonger belongs to DP.
He appeared on TV alongside other panelists including Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi (Deputy NRM chairperson for Buganda), Hon. Charles Rwomushana and Hon. Goretti Namugga (Mawogola South MP), with his fists folded and shouting “Kunga, Kunga”, literary meaning “mobilise, mobilise”.
“Now you see, in the previous tenure, I was serving under the Old Testament, but this time around for president Bobi Wine 2026, I will front an umbrella for my last term as Nakaseke south MP. For those of you who follow my political activism, these days I have been operating under a slogan Kunga Kunga, women Kunga, Nakaseke Kunga Kunga, people power Kunga Kunga, Kyagulanyi Kunga Kunga, Luweero Kunga, Umbrella Kunga,” said. Luttamaguzi.
He asserted a claim that he was assigned a responsibility by Robert Kyagulanyi to moblise citizens in the greater Luwero region for regime change come 2026.
“Previously, I moblised people for change under the DP ticket, as a steward for greater Luwero, but this obligation has been renewed under the famous slogan Kunga Kunga,” the Vice Chairperson of Parliament’s Local Government Accounts Committee noted.
However, his contemporaries termed it “total madness” and that Lutamaguzi’s mind was clearly quite affected, while others dubbed it “a destitute of common sense”.
Hon. Charles Rwomushana was heard saying “ogwo munanansi”, a modern day ephemism used to refer to someone who is mentally deranged, with mal-functioning brains as a result of taking too much alcohol, substituted for pineapple juice.
It is important to note that this is not the first time a DP diehard defects to the NUP.
On August 20th, 2020, a total of 11 MPs, including the current leader of opposition (LOP) Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba who previously subscribed to the DP, announced their departure to join the NUP, a political outfit headed by then Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
