Recently posted Resident District Commissioner for Rwampara District, Robert Atuhairwe Rwase has decried the poor road network in the district.
Atuhairwe has for the past weeks been on a familiarization tour to different areas in Rwampara.
During his visit to areas of Nyakahanga, Kijojo, Kibuba, Ihoho, Ekihena and Kashasha, Atuhairwe realized that the communities there are struggling as a result of poor roads.
In his speech to residents of the area, Atuhaire noted that it’s his mandate as a representative to the head of state to ensure that all Government programmes are monitored.
“We need to ensure that our leaders use the money very well. We shall ensure that we continue monitoring Government programmes and ensure that electorates have services delivered, “Atuhairwe noted.
He also said that he is going to write to the office of the President to seek for road equipments since to-date the district is struggling with the same.
“The district has no single grader and this is greatly affecting service delivery. The district has been hiring from neighbouring districts which generally delaying services.”
He noted that the unfavorable terrains in the different areas within Rwampara also make movement so hard.
“Most people here are Agriculturalists and the terrain affects them to move their produce to the markets. We need to ensure that we work out a mechanism on how to support these farmers”, said Mr. Atuhairwe.
He also implored residents to freely join groups like emyooga, parish development model and SACCOS as it’s the only way through which they will access funding from Government to enable them fight poverty.
While in Kinoni town cell, Together with the district Member of Parliament, Hon. Amos Kankunda, Mr. Atuhairwe presided over a donation of food aid from the office of the Prime Minister.
This comprised of an assortment of 67 bags of posho and 33 bags of beans.
In his address, Hon. Kankunda appealed to the electorates to work towards development and as well keep supporting Government programmes.
“The NRM government under President Museveni ushered in peace that we enjoy on a daily basis and in return you’re able to address issues of fighting poverty. Please keep supporting President Museveni,”said Hon. Kankunda.
The RDC continues to interact with the different stakeholders as part of his familiarization tour of the district. He will move in all the sub-counties and town councils that make up the administrative units of the district.
In his bid to make Rwampara the model district in the entire Ankole sub-region as regards service delivery in line with government programs of Parish Development Model, Emyooga, Operation wealth creation among others, the focused RDC will ensure his crusade is an all inclusive campaign that will bring on board all the technical team at the district.
Meanwhile, Atuhairwe has been monitoring and commissioning different water projects with the recent one being a borehole construction in Nyakibungu Village by Nile Humanitarian Development Agency. The project was funded by AB-I Hayat Salman Kalasoylu from Netherlands through the lobbying of the area Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Molly Kansiime.
