The Resident City Commissioner of Fort Portal Godwin Angalia Kasigwa has called upon the people of Tooro sub region to embrace government programs amidst the escalating commodity prices and Covid-19 global effects on economies.
Angalia reiterated the need to utilize the already existing government poverty alleviation programs including Emyooga, UWEP, Youth livelihood program, Parish Development Model and many others. He underscored the need for the community to aggressively take up these programs to avert the effects of the COVID-19 effects on the country’s economy.
The RCC made the call during Tooro Subregion stakeholders meeting with Bank of Uganda officials. The engagement took place at the Kabarole District Town Hall meeting on Friday.
The Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda Dr Michael Atingi Ego who presided over the meeting, was flanked by the BoU’s Director of Communications and the Bank’s Secretary.
It was also attended by the Deputy RCC of Fort Portal North Allan Bamuha and Deputy RCC Fort Portal Central Businge Emmanuel among other district officials.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide a platform to discuss issues related to the Banks Mandate, functions and role in fostering price stability
The Covid-19 scourge world over distablized the economies, to this, modalities are being designed by the government towards harmonising the increasing household commodities prices.
The meeting was part and parcel of the efforts by the government to tackle the The negative effects on the economy.
