Three people have been confirmed dead on Sunday morning at around 3:50 am, 24th April 2022 after a trailer lost control and rammed into a motorcycle rider at Pachilo east village Atiak sub-county along Gulu Nimule highway in Amuru district.
The trailer under registration number KBP 703J/ZG 8800 knocked a boda-boda rider with registration number UFK 746N Bajaj and two passengers, both of whom died instantly.
The Aswa river region police spokesperson, ASP David Ongom Mudong, says the three passengers on the motorcycle who died instantly have been identified as Innocent Onencan, a resident of Atiak, Dennis Syrus Okot, and one yet to be identified.
“The cause of the accident is reckless driving by the driver of the trailer who is yet to be identified and is still on the run,” the spokesperson adds.
Mudong says all the deceased bodies have been taken to Atiak health center IV for postmortem, and the motorcycle parked at the Atiak police station while the trailer was still on the road where it was abandoned after the accident.
Mudong added that a case of a fatal accident has been registered at the Atiak police station vide TAR 50/22 as investigations into the matter continue.
