Fort Portal Central Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner Emmanuel Businge has halted an illegal land eviction at Rwengoma Ward.
Flanked by his Fort -Portal North counter part Deputy RCC Allan Bamuha, the duo acted after a swift tipoff from the affected citizens.
The contested land is between Afro Kai Ltd and the family of Aisha Asaba located in Rwengoma Ward.
Citing the recent presidential directive that all court orders on land evictions must be sanctioned by the security committee, the DRCC made the pronouncements while on a field locus tour of the said land in the company of the DPC ,CISO and the City Speaker.
“Yes I have directed that the eviction stops with immediate effect not until we bring up the issue for discussion in the security committee and then court give time for it to pronounce its self on the very matter,” Mr Businge said.
It should be noted that the President issued a directive regarding matters to do with land evictions since the process has always been marred by irregularities and trampling on the rights of the weaker parties.
The Deputy RCC Fort Portal North Bamuha, assured the area residents that their land is safe with the new presidential directive in place.
He further called for cooperation with the security agencies in case of anything that compromises their (residents) security.
