Over 300 people in informal sector in Nakawa division have started registering and waiting to be certified by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT).
DIT under the Education Ministry embarked on certifying people with informal practical skills through the Competence Based Assessment program. The certification process, which is conducted at three levels, takes between one to two weeks.
The certification by DIT intends to recognize people who acquire informal practical skills for work and they are given worker’s passport or certificates after certification.
The beneficiaries included plumbers, mechanics, wielders, hair dressers, electricians, brick makers and Carpenters among others.
The Nakawa East Member of Parliament, Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga through the Balimwezo Community Foundation (BCF) says that initiative is targeting to reduce unemployment and ensuring that people in informal sector are recognized.
This happened at Kiswa community hall in Nakawa division on Thursday 17th March 2022.
Balimwezo asked residents of his constituency to embrace the program.
