The state Minister for Higher Education, Dr John Chrysestom Muyingo has refuted allegations that government has Okayed students to study using their phones while at school.
The minister revealed this on Wednesday at the opening ceremony of Luwuube Seed Secondary School in Katikamu Sub County, Luweero district.
In a bid to improve education and the academic standards of the locals in Uganda, government has embarked on the construction and establishment of seed schools as one of it’s pledges in the recently concluded election manifestos.
This is done with the intention to reduce the long distances travelled by learners most especially in rural areas and to ensure this, over 200 seed schools are to be constructed in every Sub county and parish throughout Uganda.
While officiating at the event, Dr Muyingo watered down allegations that the government has allowed students to study using their phones at school, saying that they are still analyzing proper criteria which will be followed.
Muyingo also urged the locals to embrace the government programs in order to benefit from them as this is the only way to attain development.
