The National Unity Platform (NUP) has asked court to set a date for the hearing of the kayunga LC5 by-election
These led by the party General Secretary David Lewis Rubongoya said it is over two months since they filed their application, in which they termed as broad daylight thuggery where they believe that their candidate Harriet Nakwedde won Andrew Muwonge, the NRM flag bearer.
Rubongoya made these remarks on Tuesday while meeting with the party members from kayunga at the NUP party head offices in kamwokya kampala.
Three days after the Eectoral Commission declared NRM’s Muwonge as the winner for the kayunga LC5 by-election, NUP challenged the results claiming that their candidate Nakwedde who garnered 37,117 won.
Rubongoya asked court to set a date for hearing their case to determine the rightful winner of Kayunga by-election.
on the issue of Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Zaake who was impeached from the Parliamentary Commissioner seat, Rubongoya said as NUP they will still stand their ground in challenging parliament’s decision to remove Zaake from the commission saying that the Deputy Speaker Anita Among and her colleagues are only doing that to intimidate NUP members.
