Five murder suspects who were three days ago granted bail have been attacked by an angry mob,and two have died.
The family of five had been accused of killing a boda boda cyclist.
The suspects who were attacked on Tuesday morning are; Muhairwe Innocent aged 58 ,Ssenyonga Alex aged 22, Asingwire Lawrence aged 18 ,Tukahebwa Posiano aged 24 and Turyahebwa Cleophas aged 25 years old all residents of Kanyigiri village,Nyarubungo parish ,Bukiro subcounty Mbarara district rural.
The five were attacked by an angry mob while they were checking on their gardens that had been destroyed six months ago still by an angry mob.
Two people that include Muhairwe (father) and Ssenyonga (son) were killed by the mob using sticks,stones and pangas as they tried to get away from the angry mob.
Other two Turyahebwa and Tukahebwa are still in hiding with injuries sustained during the angry attack.
According to the Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, another suspect Asingwire has been able to escape the mob and is being kept at Mbarara central police station for safe custody as he helps Police in it’s investigations.
“Cause of the attack by the angry mob was as a result of the Court bail that was awarded to two murder suspects Ssenyonga Alex and Tukahebwa Posiano who are brothers, accused of killing a boda boda rider of the same village,who were released from prison three days ago on the 01/10/2021, ” Kasasira said.
The two were remanded to Mbarara Main Prison last year on murder charges.
“Police condemns acts of mob action because they are illegal and inhuman,the hunt for the perpetrators is still ongoing,” Kasasira added.
