There was a heavy downpour and strong winds in Kacerere Town council, Rubanda district on Sunday evening which destroyed several houses and crops.
The most affected villages are Nyarukoro Trading center, Quarters A, Quarters B, Nyarushija among other villages.
Aggrey Turyatunga, the LC 5 councilor for Kacerere Town council told our reporter that the heavy rains left Kacerere-Rubaya-Muko road impassable, some of the bridges in the area destroyed and some houses down.
“Our houses have been destroyed and several people are reporting to me of their missing animals. The heavy down pour left us in misery. We pray government comes out to rescue our people, ” Turyatunga said.
According to Turyatunga, more than 500 people have been affected by the heavy rains and currently need help.
