The office of the president has finally corrected the names of Ms Babirye Milly Babalanda and confirmed her as the duly appointed minister for presidency which has been pending.
A letter signed off by Dr Kenneth Omona the principal private secretary in the office of the president to the clerk of parliament indicates that there had been a mix up of names when the list was submitted to parliament for approval.
“This is to clarify that the correct names are Mrs Babirye Milly Babalanda and not Mariam Doka Babalanda. I therefore confirm that his excellency appointed Babirye Milly Babalanda as minister in charge of presidency,” in part reads the letter.
The appointment of designate minister for presidency has had a couple of twists including the mismatch in the academic documents which had eight and not 10 subjects.
But Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) wrote to clarify the discrepancies in the result saying that mature entry has the option of one taking only eight subjects and not necessarily all the 10.
During the Parliamentary Appointment committee Session sitting today 14th June 2021, Hon Milly Babalanda was advised to appear on 15th June 2021 after his office has secured a letter from UNEB and from the President.
There was an issue on why her UCE/Olevel UNEB Certificate had 8 subjects instead of 10. However by end of the day UNEB had officially communicated to the speaker that on Adult Entry it’s optional to take physics and chemistry.
According to UNEB, Babalanda didn’t take physics and Chemistry.
UNEB also confirmed that she had sat for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education in 2019 at Makerere Day and Evening Adult School.
The letter from state house released this morning indicated that the appointment had been erroneously been given to a different person hence the mismatch in the names which they have since corrected according to the letter.
