The Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner (RDC) George Bakunda has urged people with relatives who have already died must be buried immediately as the directive from the President to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 in the district.
This follows the revised guidelines released by President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday noting that burials, vigils were allowed but with a maximum number of 20 people under observance of SOPs.
While appearing on one of the local Radio Station based in Ntungamo, Bakunda who is also the chairperson Ntungamo district COVID-19 task force revealed that the security officers will not hesitate to arrest the defiant groups on the issue of burying their loved ones immediately.
He noted that if only 20 people are allowed to attend it means that those are enough to witness the burial without waiting for others from Kampala or elsewhere.
Ntungamo district has so far registered 14 COVID-19 related cases since the 20th March 2020 including the recent one of director of finance civil aviation Authority Hannington Kacooni Banyendera who will also be buried today at his ancestral home Nyamisha Kahunga.
