The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) will on 11th and 12th May, 2021 suspend its operations at its Head Office in Kololo to allow smooth preparations and management of President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony.
Museveni will on 12th May swear-in for the 6th term as the President of Uganda after winning the 14th January presidential elections. The ceremony will take place at Kololo Independence grounds.
“The management of the National Identification and Registration Authority informs the general public that Kololo Ceremonial Grounds (Kololo Airstrip) will on Wednesday 12th May 2021 be the venue for the swearing in ceremony of the President Elect,H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni…Consequently, operations at the NIRA offices in Kololo will be suspended on the above indicated dates,” NIRA said in a statement on Friday.
“Our clients shall continue to access National Identification Services including registration and issuance of cards normally through our offices in the respective divisions of Kampala. All other NIRA offices shall continue to operate normally.”
