The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi famously known as Bobi Wine has said he doesn’t wants President Yoweri Museveni to be ousted like former presidents Omar Bashir or Muammar Gaddafi of Sudan and Libya respectively.
During an exclusive interview on NTV on Monday, the presidential hopeful said It was very important that Uganda gets a retired President who is respected and can live peacefully in his country without any problem.
“We want President Museveni to retire respectfully, it is important that he doesn’t go like Bashir or Gaddafi. It’s important that we have our old man who we respect and go-to for advice. He has done some good things but his time has expired.
“This is going to be a new Uganda and for that reason, we want to live in a country where we have a “resident former President,” Bobi Wine on how he would treat President Museveni if he won the 2021 general elections.
On the recently NUP case that was ruled in favour of the Kamwokya based party, Bobi Wine asserted that the suit was mainly meant to disorganise them and that the state achieved their motive because they really slowed them down.
“There were about 427 people that had expressed interest in being nominated on the NUP ticket but ultimately, only 237 were nominated because of various reasons including inadequate finances,” he said.
“Ugandans are on their own until we have leaders who fear to offend us. You can’t rely on someone who told you in your face that he isn’t your servant.”
