Teenage boy kills 5 year-old girl after being accused of being a phone thief

Police in Kisoro District has arrested a fifteen year old boy over the murder of a five years old girl.

Manzi innocent, a resident of Kanyampiriko Village, Bunagana Parish, Muramba Subcounty in Kisoro District over the àllegedly led a group of juveniles who stoned Dusingize Miracle aged five years old before she died. Both deceased and the suspect hail from the same Village.

It’s alleged that Manzi Innocent (prime suspect)picked a quarrel with Nyiramutuzo Doreen a sister to the deceased while in the garden at around 10 am in the presence of Nizeyimana Peter who was accompanying Manzi.

Nyiramutuzo was accusing the suspect of being a thief of phones something that didn’t please Manzi.

This prompted the suspect to mobilise other five juveniles for a revenge.

At around 7pm, the mobilised juvenile hooligans went and attacked the home of Nyiramutuzo with stones and in a scuffle the prime suspect threw a stone that hit the deceased on the forehead before she died.

The mobilised male juvenile hooligans include Ndungutse Junior ,Junior Moses,Nizeyimana Peter ,Habyarimana Wilsson, and another one only identified as Munike of Bunagana market in Bunagana town council.

According to the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate, the victim bled profusely and was rushed to the nearby clinic by her mother Ntirenganya Meridah which clinic referred her to Mutolere Hospital unfortunately died along the way.

Manzi has been arrested and efforts to arrest the remaining suspects are underway. This case has been registered at Kisoro police under file number CRB/430/2020
