Uganda’s Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has gone into self isolation after some of his contacts tested positive for #COVID19, his official twitter accounts says.
“Friends, I have gone into self isolation after some of my contacts tested positive for #COVID19.”
However, Dr Rugunda said his test is so far negative.
“My own test result is negative, however, I have taken this decision as a health recommended measure. #StaySafeUG”.
Rugunda has to remain in self isolation for at least two weeks as his health is monitored. The prime minister becomes the highest ranking Uganda government official to self isolate after associates test positive. He has been heading the Covid-19 taskforce, and receives delegations on daily.
The premier has taken a firm and right decision because he has been at the centre of commanding the fight against Covid-19, after the President, Mr Yoweri Museveni and health minister, Jane Ruth Aceng.
He also meets the President often for briefings.
