A pilot of a chattered plane on which the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga was travelling lost the way and landed in Mubende as his star passenger was headed for a function in Kazo.
The pilot who has since been identified as Mupaapa Isma, later flew the chopper from Mubende to Kazo in western Uganda where the Speaker was to attend a ceremony at the home of Molly kamukama, the State Minister for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President. She is also a former Presidential Private Secretary to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Kadaga arrived at the Saturday function an hour late.
This, however, is not the first time for Kadaga to have similar problems aboard a chopper in Uganda.
A similar incident was witnessed seven years ago in July 2017, when a UPDF chopper with the Speaker on board, landed in the middle of the Legends Rugby Grounds as the national rugby team – The Rugby Cranes- was facing off with Namibia. The match was interrupted for 33 minutes amid confusion and bewilderment from the spectators.
It was however established that the pilot had intended to land the road next to the Rugby ground but was misled by the event’s organisers and the protocol that he could actually use the field as the players were still in the dressing rooms at the half time interval.
Kadaga, who was equally bewildered walked out of the army helicopter to the amusement of those that witnessed.
