President Museveni is expected to preside over at three graduation ceremonies on Wednesday.
According to State House, the President will be chief guest at Kyambogo University’s 16th graduation ceremony before heading to Victory School of Beauty and Hospitality Management for the institute’s 3rd do at 1pm.
At 3pm, he will then attend the graduation ceremony for Centre for Community Development and Innovation Initiative at Muduuma, Mpigi.
At the Kyambogo University, a total of 8,892 students – 4,877 male and 4,015 are female – are set to graduate in three-day ceremony that kicks off at 9am. This is the highest number of students graduating at the university since its inception.
At least 187 students are slated to graduate with first class honours.
For the first time, the institution will graduate its first batch of two PHD students from Philosophy and Food Technology, according to vice chancellor Eli Katunguka.
“This is the first time we shall be graduating doctorate students, an indication that the university is maturing in terms of academics. The numbers are still few because the courses are expensive,” Prof Katunguka told the press on Monday.
